Subject Power Line Communication and the SunnyBoy 25000 with the Control Lite
Author Sascha

Question:
Do I need to add a module to the Sunny Boy 2500 (SB 2500) to allow it to do power line communications with the Sunny Boy Control Lite?

Answer:
The SB2500 does need a Powerline module to communicate with a Sunny control
unit via Powerline. The SB2500 does NOT come with this module installed. It
must be ordered.

Let it be noted that SMA usually recommends against communication with
Powerline due to a lot of interference on the US power grid and in US homes.
This is less of a problem in Europe, but the transmission on US lines is not
always clear.

They usually recommend communication between control unit and inverter be
with RS485.
